Calender
Machine used in finishing wherein fabrics are passed between pressure rolls.
To calender
A finishing process producing a flat, glossy, smooth surface by passing the fabric under pressure between a series of heated cylinders.
Sublimation
To make pass the inks directly from the solid state in a gas state.
Metallization
Application of an ultra fine metal layer on the surface of a non-metal matter.
Waxing
To coat with wax.
Glossing
To give a natural glare by polishing to a fabric.
Transfer paper
Paper which holds inks and design to be printed.
Blanket
Endless blanket which evolves/moves around the cylinder heating of a transfer-printing calender.
Nomex
A manufactured fiber in which the fiber-forming material is a long chain synthetic polyamide having at least 85 % of its amide linkages (-NH-CO-) attached directly to two aromatic rings. | |
Transfer-printing
Process by which in contact with the heating cylinder, inks of transfer-paper pass from a solid state to a gas state and penetrate the support to reproduce the design there.
Lamination
Operation which consists to stick and press two or several layer of matter.
Heat-Bonding
Operation which consists in applying to all the surface of a material another material using a suitable adhesive.
Heating cylinder
Cylinder heated by thermal fluid with integrated electric resistances.
Heat-setting
The stabilization of synthetic fabrics to insure no change in size or shape.
Nonwoven fabric
An assembly of textile fibers held together by mechanical interlocking in a random web or mat, by fusing of the fibers (in the case of thermoplastic fibers), or by bonding with a cementing medium such as starch, glue, casein, rubber, latex, or one of the cellulose derivatives or synthetic resins.
