LEMAIRE & A FLAMENCO CATHARSIS
For its Fall-Winter 2021 collection, LEMAIRE is pleased to present its latest collaboration with A Flamenco Catharsis, a creative direction studio oriented towards the world of flamenco.
This collaboration enabled a film-accounter between two powerful dancers: the bailaor José Maya, a traditional gypsy flamenco dancer, and Patricia Guerrero, a talented dancer with contemporary movements and winner of the National Dance Award 2021 in Spain.
" Flamenco is a living culture that has a long history and seems to be in constant evolution. This dance has been shaped and transformed by many different cultures which gives to it a halo of mystery that is overpowering. There is revolt, there is improvisation, there is tension. Feelings are bare and communicated intensively. It is audacious as life can be, sometimes. Fun-da-mental ! Es-sen-cial ! " — LEMAIRE
Captured in a film directed by Robi Rodriguez, a duet between José and Patricia emerges from the legendary Amor De Dios dance school in Madrid. It’s in this cult place, patinated by history and dance steps, that these two eminences meet. On one side, José wears a deep black silhouette to accompany his explosive moves. While, on the other, Patricia brings life to a singular version of the LEMAIRE chukar bird dress.
" The pattern was inspired by the feathers of the Choukar partridge... It's a warm print which hopefully brings energy to the wearer. It’s a capricious sky about to explode, it has some impetuosity and confidence. " — LEMAIRE
