LEMAIRE opened a new corner at DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA, extending a long-standing collaboration with the concept store. The space has been designed by the LEMAIRE team with the help of architecture firm DAIKEI MILLS and the display structures present at SKWAT has been recycled to ensure a coherence between this new location and the former.
The wood used for the structure comes from the frame of century-old traditional Japanese houses based in Osaka. The pillars and beams that form the main elements are assembled using the traditional kigumi technique, which does not require glue, screws, or nails. An approach, stripped down of anything superfluous, that recalls the apparent simplicity of the LEMAIRE wardrobe showcased there.
In continuity with the first pop-up opened in DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA in April 2020, LEMAIRE has asked OUT OF MUSEUM to enrich the setting with found objects and artworks. OUT OF MUSEUM is a store-atelier located in Hanegi, Tokyo, dedicated to the unique and eclectic artefacts gathered all around the world by its founder, Makoto Kobayashi.
